HERE WE ARE SHOWING THE PARTS OF THE CUE THAT ARE READY TO BE GLUED-UP. THE PIN, SLEEVE, TRIM RINGS AND FOREARM WERE INSTALLED SEVERAL WEEKS AGO. THE FOREARM WOOD IS QUILTED SAPELE, AS IS THE BUTT SLEEVE. THE HANDLE IS MADE FROM LAYERS OF DIFFERENT WOODS SUCH AS, SNAKEWOOD, BIRDS EYE MAPLE, SPALTED GUM, WALNUT, PURPLE HEART AND SHEDUA. ONCE THE VARIOUS PARTS HAVE BEEN GLUED ONTO THE PURPLE HEART CORE, THE BUTT CAP WILL BE THREADED ON AND TIGHTENED DOWN (WHILE THE GLUE IS STILL WORKABLE)--THEREBY LOCKING EVERYTHING INTO PLACE.
ONE OF MY FAVORITE SHAFT MATERIALS IS PURPLE HEART. IT HITS NICE AND CRISP AND VERY SELDOM EVER WARPS. THESE SHAFTS ARE ABOUT 3-YEARS IN THE MAKING. THE NEXT STEP WILL BE TO INSTALL THE JOINT SLEEVE AND THE FERRULE. THEN WE WILL START THE FINAL SHAPING ON THE CNC.
